Congratulations to the Medisys team for their participation in the 2011 Ride to Conquer Cancer® held on July 7 and 8, and for their fundraising efforts benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital.
The goals of this annual event, which involves a 290-km bike ride from Montreal to Quebec City, are to raise cancer awareness, collect funds for research and treatment, and contribute to the ultimate conquest of cancer. This year, the Medisys team joined forces with the Mansfield Club and together raised $345,016, making our team the second highest fundraiser of the event for the third year in a row! Among 1,887 riders, our very own Medisys CEO, Dr. Sheldon Elman also took second place for funds raised by an individual participant. Congratulations!
In total, the Ride to Conquer Cancer raised more than $6.7 million in donations for cancer research.

Medisys is proud to announce the results achieved by our team in the 2010 Ride to Conquer Cancer® benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital.
This annual event is a 290-km bicycle ride from Montreal to Quebec City. Its aims are to raise cancer awareness, collect funds for research and treatment, and contribute towards the ultimate conquest of cancer. This year’s ride took place on July 10–11 and 1,836 cyclists took part.
The Medisys team finished in second place by raising more than $260,000 and over $110,000 of this total was raised by our CEO, Dr. Sheldon Elman, who took the first place for funds raised by an individual participant for the second year running. Three of the top five fundraisers were on the Medisys team. In total, the Ride to Conquer Cancer raised more than $6.7 million in donations for cancer research.

The aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti presents unique health risks for those travelling there to participate in relief efforts and to assist in the reconstruction of the country.
Medisys has developed specific protocols for travellers to Haiti in order to provide them with the education, vaccinations and products required to address the health risks posed by the current conditions. There is a heightened risk of the spread of communicable diseases in addition to the existing risks posed by diseases such as travellers’ diarrhoea, hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever, rabies, malaria, and dengue fever.
To date, we have provided these types of protocols to various groups of first responders including firefighters, police officers and mission workers.
Medisys is proud to announce that a portion of proceeds from all February 2010 consultations at our travel health and vaccination clinics will be donated to relief efforts in Haiti. The funds raised will be donated to the Red Cross.
